SCHOOL-BASED PEACE CAMP ‘2012 NARRATIVE REPORT

We were so thankful to God for granting our prayers. He certainly gave us a pleasant Saturday morning, a good day to push through our School-Based Peace Camp ‘2012.

Despite the fact that it was our rest day, it was very awe-inspiring to see all of us, teachers, arrived earlier as expected. Then, not later than us came the kids who were truly energized and ready to join the camp. The kids proceeded to the Imelda Q. Dimaporo-RCMS Hall to be registered. We gave them their nametags after that. As soon as almost everyone finished the registration, we then started on teaching the KFC Songs. The selected pupils led the actions accompanied with music through the DVD player. The kids had so much fun that they kept on practicing while on their seats.

At exactly nine o’clock, a prayer, followed by the singing of the National Anthem, formally started the opening program. Afterwards, we heard various hospitable words from our very youthful and active School Principal, Mrs. Fern Ann O. Barrera. A dance number from the Selected Grade V Pupils then entertained everyone. Without much ado, Honorable Condrada A. Tomimbang, a Barangay Councilor from Poblacion, gave a short talk about peace in the family and in the community. She gave much emphasis on having peace within ourselves first so we may be able to show and share it with our family and might as well to our community.

The facilitators grouped the kids as to grade level during the activities. There was the Storytelling Session, followed by the Drawing Session to show their own reflections and finally, there was the Team Games, which added more color to such affair. The facilitators gave ample time for the lunch break. It appears to be like that of the GSP Encampment wherein the kids ate together in their assigned camps with their teachers.  Then, at exactly one o’clock, the kids went back to the hall as instructed. Right then, started the singing of the KFC Songs they have learned from the morning session. The Cleanliness Drive and the Tree Planting Session highlighted the whole session as the finale.

Having the entire activity done, the closing program came sooner. Our ever sympathetic and amorous Guidance Counselor, Mrs. Anecita C. Alombro, defined a heartfelt closing expression to us. There was the closing prayer by the selected Grade IV Pupils preceded by the community singing.

Each one delightfully helped in cleaning the whole area before going home.
